JANIS VAKARELIS

The Greek pianist Janis Vakarelis enjoys a major international career having worked with conductors such as Simon Rattle, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur, Mstislav Rostropovitch, Colin Davis, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Christoph Eschenbach, Yehudi Menuhin, Marek Janowski, Charles Dutoit, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Neville Marriner, Vladimir Fedoseev, Yutaka Sado, Sakari Oramo, performing with the leading orchestras such as Philharmonia Orchestra, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Staatskappelle Dresden, Orchestre de Paris, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Wiener Symphoniker, Orchestre National de France, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, Orchestra Nazionale della RAI, BBC Symphony Orchestra, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, among others.
He has performed in prestigious halls like Musikverein Vienna, Carnegie Hall, Festspielhaus Salzburg, Berliner Philharmonie, Tonhalle ZÜrich, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and in international festivals- London Proms, Schleswig-Holstein, La Roque d’Anthéron, Spoleto, Brescia-Bergamo, Echternach, Gstaad,Sintra, Enescu Festival, etc.
Janis Vakarelis has recorded extensively over the years for RCA (Brahms,Prokofiev), ASV (Brahms), RPO Records (Liszt, Prokofiev, Gershwin) which earned him extraordinary reviews in Gramophone, Classical Music and Diapason.
He made his New York debut at the Carnegie Hall in October 2012.
